Get Flocked

The Flamingo’s Are Coming!

Bird Watchers of Calvert County… Beware!

Starting November 1, 2011 local bird watchers can catch a glimpse of a rare and tropical bird. Flamingos
will be flashing their pink feathers throughout Calvert County as part of a Flamingo Fundraising campaign
led by Keely Tolley and her companion Chihuahua, Cinnamon.

Keely and Cinnamon are raising money to become the Queens of Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is the United
Ways special event that takes place on March 10, 2012, and all proceeds raised stay here in Calvert County.

The funds raised will help benefit 17 education, financial stability, and health programs supported by the United Way. They need the most votes to win – every vote is a dollar, so the sudden appearance of tropical pink flamingos here on Calvert County lawns is simply a part of their fund-raising effort.

Keely and Cinnamon will be planting flocks of large pink flamingos in the front yards of unsuspecting local residents. They will be leaving behind a note with the gaudy birds, asking homeowners for a contribution to this worthwhile cause in exchange for a prompt and courteous removal of the offending fowl.
“lt’s all in fun.” says Keely, “It’s a great way to pull a fun

prank on your friends or neighbors while also supporting our local community that’s in need. Every dollar
we raise will go directly to the United Way and the donations are tax deductible.”
Keely also mentioned that for the truly Flamingo-phobic, she is offering Flamingo Flocking insurance. In
exchange for $25, she will keep your yard flamingo-free during the 5 month fund raiser.

Should you choose not to insure, Keely says a $30 donation to United Way will get the birds removed
from your yard within 48 hours and you can name the next yard of a friend or neighbor you wish to be
“flocked”. There are even “flocking” packages available for purchase.
